Kenneth Wayne Magruder, 70, of Independence, MO passed away Sunday, October 11, 2015. A visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00pm Saturday, October 17th at Speaks Suburban Chapel. A memorial service will follow at 3:00pm at the chapel.
Kenneth was born June 29, 1945 in Jefferson City, MO. He married his beloved Connie Sue (Evans) on April 11, 1988. Following in the footsteps of his grandfather he drove truck in 48 states and Canada over the course of 40 years. Often he would include his wife and stepson, Matt as his passengers on his routes. He was a family man and took joy in other’s happiness. He was nicknamed “the Keeper of Things” as he was often found holding onto personal items and sometimes grandchildren so others could enjoy their fun. Despite his stubborn personality, Kenneth had a heart of gold. It showed in the way he took care of people, giving what he could, supporting his family in every way possible, and loving everyone he kept close to him. Ken is loved and will be missed by his wife, Connie; stepson by title and real son by heart, Matt Cawthon of Kansas City; son, Alan Magruder (Ivy) of Texas; son, Kris Magruder of Nebraska; sister, Linda Mackie (Deb); and numerous grandchildren, aunts, and uncles; as well as special family friend, Amber Lain who helped to care for him. The family encourages contributions to Crossroads Hospice as a thank you for their compassion and care in a time of need.
