Nancy Makinen, 68, of Independence, MO passed away August 27, 2008 at her home. A memorial visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel with a rosary to be held prior at 5:30 p.m. at the chapel. The family will have a private inurnment service at Woodlawn Cemetery at a later date. Nancy was born January 21, 1940 in Milwaukee, WI to Alva A. and Margaret M. (Bloch) Kingsreiter. She was a long-time member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Independence. In 1990, Nancy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas W. Makinen. She is survived by two sons, Michael T. Makinen and Robbie W. Makinen and wife Marina; three daughters, Christine A. Roepke, Patricia M. Makinen and Michelle M. and husband Clint Quinn; five grandchildren, Jake and Maggie Roepke, Jessica Rogers, Michael and Matthew Makinen; two step-grandchildren, Nic and Kristin Quinn; two step-great-grandchildren, Joseph and Lisa; and her loving granddogs, Wilson, P.J. and Cinder Blu.
