John Malott

John Michael “Mike” Malott, age 54, of Independence passed away December 26 at Research Medical Center from complications of diabetes. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 31, 2007 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Sunday evening at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the National Kidney Foundation of KS and Western MO 6405 Metcalf Ave Suite 204 Overland Park, KS 66202 in memory of Mike Malott are requested. Mike was born July 29, 1953 in San Diego, CA to Vernon A. and Carolyn (Weston) Malott. Mike was a 1971 graduate of Truman High School and went on to work and retire from Allis Chalmers. He was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church. Mike was preceded in death by his father and an infant granddaughter, Jasmine. He is survived by his wife Denise, daughter Terri Anne (Luke) Benson, stepchildren Heather (Jim) Autrey and J.D. McPheeters, mother and stepfather Carolyn (Glenn) Harbaugh, brothers Mark (Linda) Malott, Matt (Vicki) Malott, sister Janet (Lloyd) Williams, stepbrother Glenn Harbaugh Jr., stepsister Shaun (Steve) Smith, as well as 5 step-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
