Marcia Carpenter

Marcia Lynn (Baldwin) Carpenter, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on March 10, 2024, at the NorthCare Hospice House in North Kansas City, Missouri, at the age of 66. Though grieving deeply, her family finds comfort that she is at peace after showing immense strength and courage as she faced stage 4 lung cancer. 

Marcia was born on January 8, 1958, in Kansas City, Missouri, to the Hon. Judge Rollie R. Baldwin and Diana (Licata) Baldwin. She graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1976 and earned her bachelor’s degree from UMKC in 1980. Marcia graduated at the top of her class in law school at UMKC in 1983. While there, she met the love of her life, Greg, and spent the rest of her life with him, side-by-side, hand-in-hand. 

No one is perfect, but Marcia came close. She was whip-smart, funny, progressive, and patient. She was a devoted daughter and sister, unconditionally loving mother and grandmother, nurturing aunt, loyal friend, and a supremely thoughtful person. She found joy in caring for her family, cats, and plants, listening to her favorite music, and seeing the memories and people she loved most every day through the magic of her digital photo frames. 

Marcia is now reunited eternally with her mother, Diana, and son, Ben. She is survived by her husband, Greg; children, Nicole (Hunter), Ryan (Melanie), and Jon (Midori); grandchildren, Alexis, Lily, Connor, and Lennox; father, Rollie; stepmother, Diana; siblings, Brian and Marla; nibling and niece, Kiwi and Charlotte; and many dear extended family members and friends. 

Marcia had a gift of making everyone feel seen, cared for, and important. Her life and memory can be honored every day through acts of kindness, compassion, and empathy. Her smile and hugs are already missed, but her wisdom and love live on in our hearts.

The family invites anyone who wishes to celebrate and remember Marcia to visit the family home anytime between 12:30 - 3:00 PM on Thursday, March 14, at 206 NE 88th Terrace, Kansas City, MO 64155.
