Marguerite Maxine Jenkins

September 5, 1936 — September 2, 2023

Blue Springs

Marguerite Maxine Jenkins passed away peacefully Saturday,  September 2, 2023 at the age of 86 in Blue Springs, Missouri. She was born in Grain Valley, Missouri, September 5th, 1936 to Gilbert and Violet Axsom.

Marguerite was a graduate of Oak Grove High School, class of 1955.  She was very active in both high school and the Oak Grove Christian church.  Gifted with a beautiful voice, she sang at many church events.  After graduation, while serving sodas at the local drugstore, Marguerite met her beloved Robert Jenkins.  They were married in 1958, upon completion of Robert’s military service, and settled in Independence, Missouri, where they raised their daughter, Carrie.  Having celebrated 64 years of marriage in March 2022, that same month Robert passed away.

Marguerite enjoyed working outside the home, and did so from her teenage years thru retirement.  She retired in 1992, from the Gas Service Company, as an Executive Assistant to the President.  Marguerite was a member of the Independence branch of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and conducted genealogy research for the group’s members.  Genealogy research was something Marguerite enjoyed very much and did so for more than 40 years.

In addition to her parents, Marguerite was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob), and her granddaughter, Caitlin Rose Cecala.  She is survived by her daughter, Carrie Jenkins and great-grandson, Zachary Cecala.  Marguerite is also survived by all six of her siblings, Marshall Dean Axsom, Pansy Hodges, Dorothy Kolkmeyer, Mary Margaret Judd, Bonnie Couch, and Carol Myers.

A graveside service to honor Marguerite will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, September 15th, 2023, at the Oakland Cemetery in Buckner, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (OCRA) on behalf of Caitlin Rose Cecala.
