Obituary

Mark Stephen Dumolt, 70, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 18, 2026 at St. Luke’s Hospice House.

Mark was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on September 16, 1956, to John Edmund and Shirleyann Dumolt. A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Mark carried his commitment to service throughout his life. He earned his Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University and devoted his career to serving his community.

Mark retired from the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department in 2009 as a Major after 30 years of dedicated service. He then continued his career in law enforcement as the Police Chief of Pleasant Valley, Missouri, retiring in 2016.

He was deeply proud of his service to his country and his community, and gave his all to everything he undertook.

Mark was a past member of The Ancient Order Of Hibernians, where he enjoyed celebrating and honoring his Irish heritage. He was also an avid Notre Dame fan and was fortunate enough to have attended several home games in South Bend. It should come as no surprise that one of his favorite movies was Rudy.

Outside of his professional life, Mark had a zest for living. He loved music, traveling, good food, and fishing. Mark had the ability to make the best of every situation. His personality and jolly laugh left an impression on everyone who knew him.

Above all else, Mark loved his family dearly. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend. His love, humor, generosity, and dedication to those around him will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Mark is survived by his wife of almost 50 years Stephanie Dumolt; his beloved daughter Ashley Dumolt; his brother Matthew Dumolt and sisters Michelle (Steve) Taylor, and Lisa Dumolt.
