Velma Fern (Bartlett) Marr, 88, of Independence, MO passed away Friday, April 2, 2010 at Rosewood Health Center. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 9, 2010 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2010 at Carson-Speaks. Burial in Mound Grove Cemetery. Velma was born March 14, 1922 in Emporia, KS and was a devoted daughter of John Russell and Velma Naomi (Middleton) Bartlett, who adopted her at the age of three. She grew up in Kanorado, KS before moving to Independence, MO in 1937. Mrs. Marr loved the gospel of Jesus Christ. She was an active member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Velma’s love for her family was always unconditional. Sharing was her greatest joy as was displayed by the acts of kindness in her life. Mrs. Marr was devoted to the care and well being of her family and friends. Velma will be greatly missed with many loving memories by her daughter Janice Myers and husband John, sons Lawrence Harrington Jr. and wife Ann, John Harrington and wife Frances; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; one aunt and uncle; and by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. She was preceded in death by her son Gregory.
