Howard Martin

Howard Edward Martin, 76 of Independence, MO passed away, Monday, October 4, 2010 at his residence. Services will be 10:00, Friday, October 8, 2010 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Burial with full military honors will be in Brooking Cemetery in Raytown, MO. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the Carson-Speaks Chapel. Donations may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation or to the Autism Society. Howard was born on August 10, 1934 in Boonville, MO to William and Harriett (Gensler) Martin. In 1952 he joined the US Navy and proudly served in the Korean Conflict and was highly decorated. Following the services he moved to the Kansas City area and began working at the Bayer Corporation and retired as a production supervisor. He was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the VFW Post #3976 in Independence, MO. He was married to Sharon June (Park) who preceded him in death in 1997. He then married Gena L. (Horst) on December 31, 1998; she survives of the home. Other survivors include; a daughter, Sherrelynn Martin of Independence, MO; 3 sons, Russell Martin, Daniel Martin and Jeremy Martin all of Independence, MO; a stepson, Daniel Hopkins of Dallas, TX; a stepdaughter, Jennifer Hopkins of Independence, MO; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
