Mary Anne Shackelford passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at the age of 89. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose life was marked by devotion to her family, faith, and home.
Mary Anne was born on May 12, 1936, to George and Jessie Williams in New London, Missouri. Raised on the family farm as the eldest of seven children, she developed a strong work ethic and a deep sense of responsibility from an early age—qualities that she carried with her throughout her life. A resilient and caring woman, Mary Anne was known for her love of cooking, gardening—her green thumb was admired by all—and reading. She especially found joy in watching her children and grandchildren play sports, always their proudest cheerleader from the sidelines. She was a devoted wife to Jack Shackelford, and together they built a life grounded in love, service, and faith. The couple regularly attended church and were always willing to lend a hand to family and neighbors in need. Mary Anne is survived by her five children: Kristy Riddle (Paul), Kathy Munson (Joe), Kent Thomas (Sherri), Kelly Miller (Mark), and Kerry Novitski (Eric); as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry her legacy forward. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. All are invited to a service honoring her life at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 8, 2025 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. A private burial will take place following services. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to plant something in her memory—just as she planted so much love in all of ours.
