In Loving Memory of Mary Emma Johnson

January 22, 1933 – October 14, 2026

With deep love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Mary Emma Johnson, daughter of Bertha and James Maynard Case, and beloved wife of Warren H. Johnson Sr. Mary passed peacefully on October 14, 2026, at the age of 93.

Mary married Warren on June 29, 1962, and together they built a beautiful blended family. She was the devoted mother of Judith (Palmer) and loving stepmother to Warren Jr., Michael Ray, and Richard S. Johnson. Throughout their marriage, Mary and Warren traveled widely, collecting baby spoons from each place they visited — a cherished tradition displayed proudly in every home they shared across the East Coast, West Coast, and Midwest.

Mary worked at times as a secretary, including for the Dean of a college in New Jersey, but her greatest calling was her role as a homemaker. She embraced the joyful chaos of raising four children — three energetic boys and her daughter — with patience, grace, and a quiet strength. Her home was a place of warmth, faith, and unwavering love.

She was deeply committed to her church, The Church of Christ: Temple Lot, and her spiritual life. Mary prayed faithfully, loved generously, and carried herself with a gentle spirit. She could be feisty when needed, but her presence was most often marked by kindness, calm, and a smile that made everyone feel cared for. She will be dearly missed.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Warren Sr., and her stepson Warren Jr. She is survived by her daughter Judith A. Palmer, her stepsons Michael Ray Johnson and Richard S. Johnson, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry her memory forward.

Her legacy is one of love, faith, and family — a life well lived and a heart well shared.

A visitation will be held on Monday, October 19, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E 39th St S, Independence, MO. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Speaks Suburban Chapel, with interment to follow at Floral Hills Cemetery in Kansas City, MO.

Psalm 23

"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever."
