Mary Margaret Scassellati

Independence, MO

Margaret was born February 13, 1933 and passed away on February 19, 2024. She was one of eight children born to William Tierney, Sr. and Pauline (Hutchinson) Tierney. She was born in Independence, Missouri and she graduated from St. Mary's in Pittsburg, Kansas.

Married to her beloved, Eugene Scassellati, Jr. on July 14, 1952. Together, they raised five children.

Margaret was a devoted housewife, mother, and grandmother. This was what she loved doing, and she was the best. She enjoyed a career outside the home working for McDonald's restaurant for over 20 years. Margaret enjoyed playing games and cards (and was somewhat competitive). She loved traveling, especially going to Las Vegas. Margaret's favorite things to do were cooking for her family, and spending time with them. She and Gene were lifelong members of St. Mary's Catholic church in Independence, where Margaret volunteered her service throughout the years.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; William and Pauline Tierney, her husband; Eugene Scassellati, Jr., her sisters; Patricia Hopper, Thelma Laidler, Helen Maxwell, and Elizabeth Davidson and her brothers; William Tierney, Jr. and Thomas Tierney, Sr. She is survived by her children; Catherine Scassellati (Mick Clark) of Liberty, MO, Eugene Scassellati III (Jaymie) of Blue Springs, MO, Jeff Scassellati (Linda) of Blue Springs, Mo, Joe Scassellati (Connie) of Liberty, MO, and Dan Scassellati (Cindy) of Blue Springs, MO, her sister; Anna Meyer (Jerry) of Arma, KS, fifteen grandchildren, and twenty-six great-grandchildren.
