Myra Stewart, 63, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Thursday, June 5th at Saint Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City.
Myra was born in Lanark, Scotland on December 5th, 1961, to loving parents George and Kathy Stewart. She spent her early years in Cambuslang, Scotland, before the family moved to the Kansas City area in April of 1963. She graduated from Fort Osage High School in 1980, then earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and later a Master of Business Administration, both from the University of Central Missouri. In 1988, she welcomed the joy of her life—her daughter, Savana.
Myra lived her life with unmatched energy, purpose, and joy. After landing her first job at 13 at the local skating rink, she never stopped working—for herself and for others—setting the tone for a life defined by a “work hard, play hard, love hard” mentality. After college, she built an impressive career in finance, eventually becoming a Vice President of Finance, though many lovingly knew her as the "VP of Fun" for the vibrant, joyful culture she created wherever she went.
With her magnetic personality and courageous spirit, Myra was the life of every party and everyone’s greatest cheerleader. Whether planning beach getaways, organizing a celebration for any occasion, marking every birthday and holiday with meaningful gifts, or lighting up the stadium as a longtime Kansas City Chiefs season ticket holder, she embraced every moment and brought others along for the ride. No adventure was off-limits, but what made them special was who she shared them with.
Her generosity knew no bounds. She was a dedicated community leader who was honored as a 2019 Buck O’Neil Legacy Seat Honoree after serving as President of the Dream Factory of Greater Kansas City for many years, organizing countless charity golf tournaments, mentoring through Big Brothers Big Sisters, and volunteering alongside her daughter at numerous events. As a giver, Christmas was her favorite time of year, a season she made magical through heartfelt traditions, volunteerism at the Ronald McDonald House, parties full of reindeer games, and an abundance of love and gifts.
But above all her accomplishments, Myra’s greatest joy and proudest role was being a mother to her daughter, Savana. The bond they shared was unbreakable—a partnership rooted in love, laughter, and shared values. Myra raised Savana to be strong, kind, and full of life, just like her. Together, they explored the world, gave back to their community, and made every moment an adventure.
Myra’s legacy is one of fierce loyalty, radiant joy, and wholehearted generosity. She gave endlessly—to her friends, her family, her community, and most of all, to her daughter. To know her was to feel celebrated, lifted up, and forever loved. Her light will continue to shine through everyone lucky enough to have been part of her story.
She is survived by her mother, Kathy Stewart; her brothers, George (Kim) Stewart and Steve (Lisa) Stewart; her beloved daughter, Savana (Jordan) Stewart; and a loving family full of nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends who were also family. She is now reunited with her father, George Stewart, and other cherished loved ones who surely welcomed her with open arms.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Myra’s life on June 14, 2025, with a visitation beginning at 1:00 PM and a funeral at 2:00 PM at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, Missouri. In true Myra style, a Celebration of Life (read: party) will be planned for a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The Dream Factory of Greater Kansas City.
