Dale W. Mason, 85, formerly of Harrisonville, MO died July 23, 2011. Services will be 10 am, Wed. July 27 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave, Independence, MO 64052, preceded by visitation beginning at 9 am. Committal services with Military Honors will be held at 3 pm at Crocker Cemetery near Pittsburg. KS. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Alzheimer’s Assoc. Heart of America Chapter, 3846 W. 75th St., Prairie Village, KS 66208.
Dale was born Nov. 11, 1925 to Clarence A. and Maude E. (Thomas) Mason in Ft. Scott, KS. He served in the Army Air Corps as an aerial gunner where he flew thirty-five missions during WW II. He worked at the Bendix plant in Kansas City for over thirty years and retired in 1989. He loved to fish for crappie at the Lake of the Ozarks and was a farmer raising hogs, cattle and long-haired dachshunds at various times.
Dale was preceded in death by son N. Roger Mason on June 19, 2005; two brothers and four sisters. He is survived by son Dewayne Mason and wife Julie, Riverside, CA; Larry Mason and wife Linda, Sarasota, FL; daughter Joan Roark and husband John, Independence, MO; son Robert Mason, Kansas City, MO; daughter Maudina Romig and husband Lance; North Kansas City, MO; sister Josephine Terry, Independence, MO; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
