Robert "Lucky� Mason passed away unexpectedly on March 8, 2007 at the Medical Center of Independence. Services will be held 10:00 am Monday, March 12, 2007 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be Sunday, March 11, 2007 from 5-7:30 pm with Masonic services at 7:30 pm. Lucky was born on September 5, 1932 in Clinton, MO to Everett and Bessie (Williams) Mason. After high school Lucky joined the Navy and served his country during the Korean Conflict. While in California he met his future wife. With his tour of duty complete, he and Frances were married and returned to Missouri. Lucky retired from Bayer where he was in mechanical maintenance. Lucky liked to keep very busy, and had maintained a small farm for many years. He was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church, as well as the Masonic Lodge #76, where he served as Master in 1976. Lucky enjoyed history and was a member of the Jackson County Historical Society, and Civil War Roundtable of Western MO. Thursday mornings you would find him having breakfast with the "Romeo Club�. But first and foremost in his mind always was the love of his family. Left behind to mourn his passing is his wife of 51 years, Frances, daughter Karen and husband Butch Bellis of Independence, daughter Sandi and husband Dennis Chase of Kansas City, and son Sam and wife Andrea Mason of Liberty. Other survivors include grandchildren Justin Bush, Michaela Chase, Greg Bellis, Emily Mason, Katey Mason, Natalie ("The Button�) Mason, sister in law Ruth Mason, niece Anita Pisano and husband Jack. He will also be missed by a very large extended family and many friends. Lucky is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Everett Jr. and Chester, sister Veda. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest contributions to the Dream Factory.
