Lila Masterson, 104, of Independence, MO passed away October 31, 2015. A visitation will be held from 9-10:00 a.m. followed by a 10:00 a.m. service on Wednesday, November 4, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Burial at Mound Grove Cemetery. Lila was born November 13, 1910 in Sanilac County, MI to Charles Kenneth and Beatrice Elder Green. The family moved to Independence when Lila was 10 years old. She has been a member of the Walnut Park (New Walnut Park) Community of Christ since that time. Lila was a 1928 graduate of William Chrisman High School, and on June 9 of that year she was married to Elmer Lloyd Masterson. During WWII, she was employed by Remington Arms, and later in the personnel department of Gleaner Harvester, later named Allis Chalmers, until her retirement in 1960. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Elmer Masterson; her son, Eugene C. Masterson of Squim, WA; and all seven of her siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Betty G. Simpson and husband Kenneth; daughter-in-law, Jolenta Masterson; sister-in-law, Beatrice Green; and grandchildren, Gregory Young and Judith Young (Jeff) of Independence, John Masterson (Christine), David Masterson (Mary), Maria Masterson, James Masterson (Hiroko) of Seattle, WA; nine great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.
