Mildred Joan Mattox, 73 of Independence, MO passed away, Saturday, April 2, 2011 at the Villages of Jackson Creek. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday, April 8, 2011 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Carrollton, MO. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055. Donations may be made in her name to Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders Fund. Joan was born March 6, 1938 in Tina, MO to Clarendon and Josephine (Condron) Standley and had grew up in Tina and graduated from Tina Avalon High School in 1956. She had worked as a secretary for Schwindler Brokerage Company for over 30 years before she retired in 1994. She enjoyed glass collecting and was a member of the Heart of America Glass Collectors. She was also a member of the Noland Road Baptist Church. She was married to Bill R. Mattox on November 3, 1957; he preceded her in death on October 24, 2003. Survivors include; a brother, Junior Standley and his wife June of Sedgwick, KS; 2 nieces, Lori Mason and her husband Dave and Kristi Trembley and her husband Greg; 2 aunts and a uncle. The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the Villages of Jackson Creek, Memory Care department for their compassionate care.
