Maureen Anne Hunt

Maureen Anne Hunt of Independence, Missouri, died on August 8, 2023, surrounded by her family at St. Luke’s Hospital East. Maureen was 79 years old.

Maureen was born in Kansas City, Missouri in May of 1944 and is survived by her two children, Anne McClain and Patrick Hunt, and her six grandchildren, Peyton McClain, Brennen McClain, Addison McClain, Braeden Hunt, Landon Hunt and Olivia Hunt.

Maureen lived a full life that included traveling across the United States, taking her to Miami, Florida, where she lived for several years to complete her nursing residency and practice as a nurse.  She eventually returned to Kansas City before settling in Independence, Missouri to raise Anne and Patrick.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and reminiscing about her time as a nurse and living in Miami.  She loved the beach, all things key lime pie and watching the evening news.  She also could not be trusted around a glazed donut.  Most importantly, she was an incredible mother, ensuring that her children always knew how much she loved them, in every way possible, and was always quick to offer parenting advice, even up until her final days.  Maureen will be greatly missed by her family.   

Visitation will be held at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, Missouri on Thursday, August 17, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  A memorial service will be held the following day at 10:00 a.m., at Speaks.  Maureen will be laid to rest immediately following the memorial service at Blue Springs Cemetery.
