Frank Raymond “Ray” Mawby, 71, Independence, MO passed away Oct. 1, 2011. Services will be 2 pm, Thursday, Oct. 6 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055; interment at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Visitation will begin at 1 pm before the service. The family suggests contributions to the Juvenile Diabetes Assoc., 920 Main. St., Ste. 280, Kansas City, MO 64105.
Ray was born April 14, 1940 in Independence, MO and was a lifelong resident. He attended Van Horn High School before joining to serve in the U.S. Marine Corp. He worked at the Fike Company in Blue Springs and owned and operated Sho-Me Kennels in Grain Valley for seventeen years. He loved Honda motorcycles and was a member of the Southern Cruisers Motorcycle Club where he was known as “Pistol Pete”. He rode motorcycles since age fifteen and owned a customized Honda Shadow three-wheeler.
Ray was preceded in death by his father Frank Mawby and sister Cynthia Cameron. He is survived by his wife Sharel Mawby, of the home; daughter Emily Small and husband Travis, Independence, MO; son Patrick Mawby, Oak Grove, MO; mother Cleo Mawby, Blue Springs, MO; brother Terry Mawby and wife Marlene, Paola, KS; step-sons Eric Parvin and Chris Parvin, both of Independence, MO; and grandchildren Ashton, Ella & Easton Small.
