Wanda Maxwell, 85, of Chanute, KS, formerly of Independence, MO passed away April 3, 2015. A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the chapel with burial to follow at Mound Grove Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the NorthCare Hospice House, 2800 Clay Edwards Drive, N. Kansas City, MO 64116. Wanda was born October 14, 1929 in Independence, MO to William and Beulah (Ballew) White. She grew up in the Independence area and married the love of her life, Eugene “Max” Maxwell on August 11, 1946. She was a homemaker who was strong in her faith and a member of the RLDS church. She loved her family, classic country music, dancing with Max and her flip flops. The joy of her life were her “babies”, which were her grandchildren, great grandchildren and her great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Bertha “Tootie” Gillespie, Dorothy Baugher, Jean Bunch, Charles White, Debra “Vera” Berry and Betty Wilkinson. She is survived by her children, Sandra Strack and husband Don of Chanute, KS, Glenn Maxwell and wife Penny of Independence, MO, Vaughn Maxwell and wife Lesley of Columbus, GA; eight grandchildren, Michael Strack and wife Sue, Richard Strack, Gregory Strack and wife Karri, Darin Maxwell, Staci Ramirez and husband Rob, Kyle Maxwell, Ashton Tongret and husband John, Tanner Maxwell; fourteen great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and one brother, James White of Independence, MO.
