Esther Mary Louise Mayhew

Esther M. L. Mayhew, 95, Independence, MO passed away Sept. 20. 2015. Services will be 11 am, Sat., Sept. 26 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055; interment at Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Friday at the chapel. The family requests contributions to Grace Hospice, 9233 Ward Pkwy, #201, Kansas City, MO 64114. Esther was born June 3, 1920 in Kenmare, ND and her family moved from Westby, MT to Independence when she was four years old. She was a graduate of William Chrisman High School and a life-long area resident. She was a nurse who worked for Dr. Edward Devins and his son, Dr. George Devins, until her retirement at age eighty-five. She was a member of the Community of Christ and attended services at New Walnut Gardens and East Alton congregations. Esther was preceded in death by brothers Lawrence Mayhew and Leon Mayhew and a sister Sadie Hein. She is survived by her sister Lillian Kinser, Independence, MO and many nieces, nephews and family members.
