Marian Josephine Mayhew, 94 of Independence, MO, passed away, Sunday, February 24, 2008 at Monterey Park Nursing Center. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel. Burial will be in Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. until service Wednesday at the chapel. Marian was born November 25, 1913 in Maquoketa, IA to Charles N. and Anna (Nelson) Shirley. She and her husband owned and operated the Tasty Freeze on 24 highway the Mary Carter Paint store in Raytown, MO and the Plaster and Statuary store all in Independence, MO. She enjoyed crocheting and painting. She was a member of the South Crysler Restoration Branch Church. Survivors include; 2 daughters, Donna Richards of Independence, MO and Sonja Richards of Spring Valley, IL; 3 step children, Elaine Sprinkle and husband Raymond, Leroy Mayhew and wife Joyce and Esther Mayhew and husband; a brother Lee Shirley of Carpentersville, IL; 2 sisters, Leora Sanders and Joann Gessy both of Sterling, IL 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
