Clifford J. McCarty, 89, of Independence, MO passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2011.
A Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th St. Independence, MO 64055. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home, burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Clifford was born February 24, 1922 in Kansas City, MO the son of John C. and Edith G. (Admire) McCarty. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. Clifford retired from American Can Company and later drove a school bus for the Independence School District for a number of years. He was a lifelong member of the American Legion. Clifford enjoyed woodworking, listening to music, bird watching and gardening.
Clifford was preceded in death by his first wife, Grace McCarty; his parents, two brothers, one sister, and a grandson.
Survivors include his second wife, Margery McCarty; daughter, Glenna McCarty and her companion, Timothy McKenzie; son Clifford D. McCarty and wife Veronica; daughter, Connie J. Russell and husband Raymond; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; four brothers; two sisters and numerous nieces, nephews and family.
