GEORGE CURTIS McCLARY
George C. McClary, 95, Springdale, AR formerly of Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2013.
George was born November 24, 1918 in Independence, MO the son of Everett and Hannah (Kiley) McClary. He was a 1937 graduate of William Chrisman High School and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII stationed in Guam. George retired as a Financial Officer from the Federal Aviation Administration. He was a long time member of the former Watson Memorial Methodist Church later the Christ United Methodist Church and served as a deacon emeritus. George married the love of his life, Miriam Latimer in 1940; together they enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and the world. He was a member of the Avion Travelcade Club and he loved trout fishing.
George is survived by his wife, Miriam McClary; daughter, Jane Guyton and husband Rick; grandchildren, Shane McClary and wife Lynn, Lori Steele, and Patrick Guyton and wife Kristin; great grandchildren, Emily and Sarah McClary, Will and Riley Steele; and numerous nieces, nephews, and family. He was preceded in death by his son, James R. McClary; one sister; three brothers; and his parents.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 13, 2013 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Burial will follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.speakschapel.com
