Linda Carol Mcclellan (Nichols)

February 16, 1941 — November 3, 2020

Born February 16, 1941 in Kansas City KS, Linda Carol (Nichols) McClellan passed away peacefully on Tuesday November 3rd, 2020 at Seasons Memory Center in Kansas City MO.

Linda grew up in Kansas City, KS where she graduated from Wyandotte High School. She enjoyed music playing piano and saxophone, not only in school but as part of a local dance band in the late 1950’s. After marriage Linda and Gene started a family in Kansas City KS ultimately settling in Independence in 1964 - remaining there up to Linda’s passing.

Linda was a spirited individual not afraid to speak her mind and possessing a unique sense of humor. Many umpires at her kids’ and grandkids’ events got to personally experience Linda’s “passion” for the game and support of her family's activities.

She loved animals, especially dogs (having many over the years), bowling (and was a youth bowling instructor), beading, quilting, antiques, furniture refinishing, her TOPS 291 group, scandal sheets (tabloids), baseball, cruises, fishing, trips to the lake and an occasional trip to “the boats”. But more than anything she loved having her family around her. It was always entertaining being around Linda as you never knew what she might say or do to throw you off guard or get a laugh.

Linda was preceded in death by her father, Cameron H. Nichols, mother Ruby F. (Miller) Nichols, brother Roger D. Nichols and son David A. McClellan.

She is survived by her husband Charles E. (Gene) McClellan of the home, son Douglas E. McClellan and wife Terri of Blue Springs, MO, daughter Lynda C. Burton and husband Mark of Independence, MO, grand children Lindsey N. McClellan of Independence, Jayme L. McClellan of Blue Springs and Aaron D. Burton of Independence.

A visitation will be held at Speaks Suburban Chapel, Independence, MO, Saturday, November 14, from 10:00AM until 12:00PM. Private graveside service for immediate family members following visitation at Woodlawn Cemetery, Independence, MO.

In lieu of flowers and honoring Linda’s love of animals the family appreciates contributions to:
