Larry “Mac” McConnell, 63, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed Wednesday, December 21, 2011. Larry was born to the late Charles McConnell and Mary Belle Pasely on August 26, 1948 in Carthage, MO. He attended Missouri Southern State University after graduating from Carthage High School in 1967. He moved to Kansas City, MO in 1970 to work for Standard Havens/BHA. During his 41 years with the company, currently GE Energy, he held various positions, most recent as manager of Engineered Systems. Larry loved his work and cherished the friendships that were forged over the years with co-workers and clients. Larry knew no stranger and genuinely cared about each individual he encountered, treating them each as a friend. In addition to his beloved family and close friends Larry loved golf, hunting and fishing. He remained a devoted fan of the MU Tigers and Kansas City Chiefs. Larry is survived by his wife of 31 years, Bobbi McConnell; and his children, Russell McConnell and fiancé Sandy of Kansas City, Steve McConnell and wife Kim of Blue Springs, Tim Aholt of Columbia, Amy Martin and husband Jeff of Olathe; five grandchildren, Jordan, Bailey, Lillie, Braeden and Chase; stepmother, Esther McConnell of Carthage; brothers, Chuck and Ken; and one sister, Kelly. Larry’s family will greatly miss his always positive outlook, quirky sense of humor and his unconditional love and support of family. A visitation will be held from 1-3:00 p.m. with a 3:00 p.m. Celebration of Life Service on Friday, December 30, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the American Cancer Society and the Salvation Army.
