Howard Mcdowell

Howard L. McDowell, 89 of Independence, MO passed away, Sunday, August 22, 2010 at his residence. The family will greet friends from 6 to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at the Carson-Speaks Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Mound Grove Cemetery. A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday at Village Heights Community of Christ 1009 Farview Dr. Independence, MO 64056. Howard was born July 20, 1921 in New Hamburg, PA to Clyde L. and Stella E. (Homer) McDowell. He had worked as a farmer, bus contractor, and crane operator for Mercer Alloys in Pennsylvania until the early 1980’s when he and his wife moved to Independence, MO. He was a long time member of the RLDS church and was an Elder and Pastor in New Hamburg, PA and Sharon, PA and had attended S. Crysler Restoration Branch and Village Heights Community of Christ. He was married to Elizabeth (McCune) on April 23, 1948; she preceded him in death in May of 2004. Survivors include; a daughter, Cheryl Johnson and husband Dennis of Lake Winnebago, MO; 2 sons, Rodney McDowell and Robert McDowell and his wife Helen all of Independence, MO; 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Ethan McDowell.
