Ethel Mchardy

Ethel Elizabeth McHardy, 94, of Independence, MO passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2009. Cremation is planned with a private family memorial service to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mid-America Council of Girl Scouts or Blue Ridge Boulevard United Methodist Church. Ethel was born in Minneapolis, MN on Oct. 14, 1914. She married Kenneth Ray McHardy on July 27, 1935 and moved to the Kansas City area in 1937. She worked as a buyer for Woolf Brothers for 24 years before retiring in 1980. Ethel was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth in May 2008 and is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Larry Gutekunst; grandchildren: Carrie Wood and husband Gordon, and Kirk Gutekunst and wife Jennifer; greatgranchildren: Graham and Kenton Wood and Ben and Sophie Gutekunst; six nieces and one nephew.
