Anthony Cordell McKenzie, 15, of Independence, MO passed away Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Children’s Mercy Hospital. Services will be held at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, March 19th, 2015 at the Noland Road Baptist Church 4505 S. Noland Rd., Independence, MO 64055 with cremation to follow. The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m., until service time Thursday at the church. Donations may be made in his name to the Noland Road Baptist Church. Anthony was born September 30, 1999 in Kansas City, MO. He was currently a freshman at Fort Osage High School in Independence. He enjoyed playing chess and saxophone; solving Rubik’s Cubes; drawing; and collecting wolf statues and pictures. He was an active member of the Noland Road Baptist Church where he was involved in church youth and mission camps. He was also a member of the Chess Club. He is survived by: his mother, Sara Batzold of Colorado Springs, CO; his father, Sean McKenzie and fiancée, Nicholle Pyle; his siblings, Myranda McKenzie, Antoinette “Annie” McKenzie, and Zachary Batzold; his maternal grandmother, Bonnie Reber; his special Aunt, Amy McKenzie and his paternal grandmother Pamela McKenzie who raised him; all of Independence, MO; and a step-grandmother, Roxanne McKenzie of Liberty, MO; as well as other aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.
