Zora Belle McKiernan, 100, passed away October 7, 2011, at Rosewood Care Center, after a short illness. Zora Belle was born to Frank and Jessie Storms on March 15, 1911, in Argyle, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert, her son Mark, and a sister and four brothers. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Dorene McKiernan of Independence, two grandsons, Lane McKiernan, Minneapolis, MN, and Mike McKiernan, Tampa FL, and several nieces and nephews. She lived with her husband for many years in Ft. Madison, Iowa, until they retired to Branson, Missouri. After the death of her husband she moved to Heritage House in Independence. She was an active member of the Community of Christ church throughout her adult life. She attended the Gather Inn Seniors group, volunteered at Outreach International and was active member in the Laurel Club. She sewed hundreds of tote bags and children’s pillows for shelters in the area, and raised thousands of dollars for her favorite charities. A celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday October 23, 2011, at Liberty Street Community of Christ Church, 416 N Liberty St, Independence, MO, 64050.
