Merle Mckim

Merle Anders McKim, 87, Independence, Missouri, passed away September 17, 2011. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at 10:00 a.m., followed by an 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Speaks Suburban Chapel at 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055. Interment will follow in Mound Grove Cemetery. Merle was a caring person with an outgoing personality. She always welcomed family, friends or new acquaintances with a big smile. Her broad interests, voracious reading and willingness to laugh at everyone’s jokes made her a great conversationalist. An expert seamstress, she could combine requested features and create a new design. She was a master at crossword puzzles and raising violets. She also knew how to make the most out of a little and to overcome the challenges of life. Merle’s greatest joy was her children and family. She will be remembered as a warm, loving mother and grandmother who always listened, gave support and engendered confidence in her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Robb, Dave, and Jo Linda, their father Robert L. McKim, eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and her stepsister Betty Jacobs.
