Charles A. McMahon, 79, Independence, MO died peacefully at home on Oct. 12 2012 after enduring years of chronic respiratory problems. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 am, Wed. at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055; interment with Full Military Honors will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Tuesday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to Disabled American Veterans, 215 North Spring Street, Independence, MO 64050.
Chuck, or Charlie to his family, was born April 22, 1933 in Kansas City, KS. He grew up in the Kansas City area and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked for Braniff Airways for thirty-five years. He was easy-going, generous, quick to laugh and loved trivia, history and puzzles. He will be greatly missed.
Chuck was preceded in death by daughter Colleen McMahon. He is survived by wife Jeanne McMahon, of the home; son Mike Brendel and wife Leah, Dallas, TX; daughters Patty Moore and husband John, Lee’s Summit, MO; Teresa Matzelle and husband Mike, Littleton, CO; Kathleen Wicks and husband Larry, Excelsior Springs, MO; sister Pat McMahon, KS; grandchildren Kristina, Jennifer, Nichole, Mason, Paige; great-grandchildren Dylan, Eden; two nephews Steve, Paul and two nieces Kelly and Sheryl.
