Thurl C. “Mac” McNeill, 86, Independence, MO passed away April 26, 2013. Services will be 2 pm, Tuesday, April 30 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052; interment with Full Military Honors will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1 pm before the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the Crown Pointe Church Building Fund, 5950 N.E. Lakewood Way, Lee’s Summit, MO 64064. Thurl was born Nov. 10, 1926 in Creswell, AR and moved to the Kansas City area in 1948. He worked at Foremost Foods for thirty-two years and retired in 1981. He then worked as a security guard at Independence Regional Hospital until 1990. He was a member of Teamsters Local #41.He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign in WW II where he earned the rank of Sgt. in the Military Police. He was a member of Crown Pointe Church for over fifty years. He was a huge sports fan of the Chiefs and the Royals. He also loved traveling to beaches and the ocean. Most of all he loved his family. Thurl was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Peggy McNeill, of the home; daughters Teresa Curry and husband Michael, Lee’s Summit, MO; Sherri Dade; son Gary McNeill and wife Kris, all of Independence, MO; grandchildren Brett Curry and wife Allison, Weatherby Lake, MO; Bethany Hess and husband Wayne, Overland Park, KS; Brandon Curry and wife Ali, Independence, MO; Kara Bruner and husband Matt, Mission Hills, KS: Laura Kackley and husband Craig; Sarah Butler and husband Matt; Kimberlee Lamming and husband Zack, all of Independence, MO; fourteen great-grandchildren and many other loving family members.
