Frank Troy Meier, 77, Holden, MO, died unexpectedly on Aug. 10, 2011. Funerals services will be 10 am, Sat., Aug. 13 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055; cremation. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall Oak Grove Congregation Frank Meier Memorial Fund.
Frank was born June 2, 1934 in Kansas City, MO. He graduated from East High School, was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran and a Mason. He worked at the Union Wire Rope plant for thirty-five years and retired in 1984. He was a world-class sailor who enjoyed radio controlled airplanes, working in his vegetable garden and was a founder of the B.S. Smokers BBQ team and had won many awards at BBQ competitions.
Frank was preceded in death by brother Ed Meier. He is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years Judy Meier, of the home; daughters Jenny Wagner and husband Matt, Grain Valley, MO; Frankie Lowmiller and husband Eric, Blue Springs, MO; Lori Davis and husband Anthony, Peculiar, MO; son Troy Meier and wife Laura, Cocoa Beach, FL; brother Bill Meier and wife Bette, Independence, MO; sister Joanne Nelson and husband Don, Blue Springs, MO and grandchildren Jason Glass, Maxx Davis, Ryker Lowmiller, Erica Lowmiller, Jade Davis, Vanessa Johnson and Belle Meier.
