Robert Joseph Meints, 75, of Raytown, MO, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2004 at the VA Medical Center. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 am Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Entombment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-7:30 pm Tuesday at Speaks Suburban Chapel where the Rosary will be recited at 7:30. Robert was born April 30, 1928 in Kansas City, MO to Chris F. and Hazel A. (Burton) Meints. Mr. Meints was a Real Estate Appraiser for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers before he retired in 1984. He was an active member of the Association of Government Appraisers. Robert was the Housing Officer at Richards Gebaur Air Force Base, and Chief Deputy Assessor for the Jackson County Assessors Office at the Independence Courthouse. He received his Associate Degree in Business Administration from Rockhurst College. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and was rated 100% disabled from a military service injury. Robert was an active life member of the Disabled American Veterans; and a National Officer and life member of the National Order of Trench Rats, a DAV auxiliary. Mr. Meints was also a life member of the Paralyzed Veterans of America; and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a member of the American Legion. He was a life member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and the American Association of Retired Persons, and a member of the German Genealogical Society of America. Robert was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Raytown, MO. Surviving Mr. Meints are his wife, Marlyn LaVonne (Boehm) Meints of the home; son Robert A. Meints and daughter Sheryl A. Penniman both of Raytown, MO; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister Marion C. Masters of Blue Springs, MO.
