Melvin Ervin Cundiff

Melvin Ervin Cundiff, 82 of Independence, MO passed away Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Centerpoint Medical Center.  Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Timothy Lutheran Church, 301 E. Wyatt Rd., Blue Springs, MO 64014 with cremation to follow.  The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m., until service time Saturday at the church.  Melvin was born March 4, 1941 in Sweet Springs, MO to Ernest Carl and Helen Irene (Beard) Cundiff.  He spent his early life in Sweet Springs and graduated from Sweet Springs High School in 1959 before moving to the Kansas City area.  He worked for over 38 years at the Ford Kansas City Assembly Plant before he retired in the early 1990’s.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and playing card games with friends and family.  He was a member of the UAW local #31 and was a member for over 50 years of Timothy Lutheran Church in Blue Springs, MO, where he served on the Board of Elders, was a festival committee member and helped with Midweek School and Vacation Bible School.  He is survived by; 2 sons, Jason Cundiff and his wife Tanya Christine of Odessa, MO and Joel Cundiff and his wife Jennifer of St. Joseph, MO; a sister Patricia Bail of Boonville, MO; his granddaughter, Ashley Cundiff of Independence, MO and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Gloria Ann Cundiff on December 14, 2021, his parents and a brother, Mason Cundiff in November of 2023.  Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.speakschapel.com (Arrangements: Speaks Suburban Chapel (816) 373-3600).
