Melvin “LeRoy” Harden, 73 passed away on May 8, 2025, leaving a legacy of laughter and love to his friends and family.
Born May 2, 1952, LeRoy was raised in the Raytown Christian Church and a 1970 Graduate of Raytown High School. He enjoyed his years of singing through middle and high school and later with the Raytown Community Choir and Metro Men’s Chorus of KC. He loved his music until the very end. LeRoy loved spending time with his fellow classmates, meeting in Englewood for drinks and fun as well as the Romeo group of 1970, meeting around town and reminiscing upon the old times.
LeRoy had a knack for making people laugh, often delivering quick witted one liners or smart-alecky comments. Whether sharing a story, cracking a joke, spending time with his friends and family, LeRoy brought joy and love to those around him.
His presence will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy lives on in the laughter he shared, and the friendships he built.
LeRoy is survived by his brother Lynn Harden (Sherry), his sisters Tanya Harden (Sandy) and Twila Tanner; his cherished niece and nephew Jennifer Bowen (Greg) and Eric Harden (Conley) as well as his great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Hanes and his mother, Norma “Joan” Hanes.
