Melvin Roy Parker

May 26, 1940 — July 7, 2024

Sibley

Melvin Roy Parker, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend passed away on July 7, 2024, in Sibley, Missouri. He was born on May 26, 1940 in Brunswick, Missouri, to William Francis and Ollie Belle (Brake) Parker. He was one of 11 children. He moved to Kansas City in 1949 and to Sibley, Missouri in 1971, where he remained with his family.

Melvin dedicated 32 years of his life working for the Reintjes Company before transitioning to Children's Mercy Hospital, where he served for another 5 years until his well-deserved retirement in 2000. His dedication and hard work touched the lives of many throughout his career.

One of Melvin's fondest memories was taking special trips with his grandchildren for donuts and McDonald's - a tradition that brought immense joy to him and his grandchildren, even if they were "closed," which always made for a great laugh within the family.

Outside of work, Melvin enjoyed being outdoors and engaging in activities such as hunting and fishing. He also found solace in watching westerns and football. Of course, partaking in these activities with his children and grandchildren was his favorite.

Melvin's proudest accomplishment was his family. He shared a beautiful marriage with Lorrie for 51 wonderful years. His love and dedication to his family were evident in everything he did. He loved well and was well loved.

On Thursday, July 11, 2024 friends and family will gather to pay their respects at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, Missouri 64055. The visitation will take place from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A Funeral Service will follow at the same location beginning at 2:00 PM. The day will conclude with a Graveside Service at Six Mile Cemetery in Sibley, Missouri.

Melvin leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will be forever treasured by all who knew him. Although he is no longer with us, his spirit lives on through his surviving wife, Lorrie Parker; children, Matthew (Jolynn) Parker, Amy (Dan) Morris, Brian (Kim) Brown; grandchildren, Billy Littrell III, Hannah (Quin) Smith, Sarah (Dilon) Evans, Lorann Parker, Austin Parker, Callie Brown, Lacy Morris, Weston Brown, Isaac Morris; great-grandchild, Kamryn Smith; sister, Judy Parker; as well as many nieces & nephews, extended family and dear friends. He is now reunited with his parents, William and Ollie Belle Parker; siblings, Lewis Parker, Opal Burks, Robert Parker, his twin brother, Marvin Parker, Paul Parker, Larry Parker, Jean Parker, Donald Parker, Donna Godfrey; and several nieces and nephews, who have gone before him.
