William Orlen Mercer, 67 of Blue Springs, MO passed away Sunday, April 12, 2015 at the St. Luke’s Hospice House. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 17, 2015 at Leavenworth National Cemetery with full military honors. Donations may be made to St. Luke’s Hospice House or the family is accepting donations for final expenses. He was born December 16, 1947 in Muncie, IN to Harold Eugene and Vera Margaret (Hiles) Mercer. He proudly served in the US Air Force for 27 years before he retired as a Master Sergeant. He was a beloved husband and father who enjoyed singing in barbershop quartets, the theatre, his dogs and most of all spending time with his family. He is survived by: his loving wife of 47 years, Kathleen Ann of the home; a daughter, Tina Marie Webb and husband Gene of Blue Springs, MO; a son, Kenneth William Mercer of Blue Springs, MO; a brother, Jeffrey Mercer of Muncie, IN; 3 sisters, Debbie Rissman, Kathy Sewell and Sheila McIlwain all of the Muncie, IN area; his mother, Vera Mercer of Muncie, IN; 2 grandchildren, Brianna and Aidan and his dogs, Teddy, Pixie, Ally and Jessie.
