Lester L. Merrell

Lester L. Merrell, 65, of Independence, MO passed away Friday, February 20, 2004 at his home. Services will be 10 am Tuesday, February 24th at Noland Road Baptist Church; with interment in Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 7 to 8:30 pm at the Church. Lester was born January 17, 1939 to Albert and Lottie Merrell. He was a veteran of the US Army, a member and Deacon of Noland Road Baptist Church, and a Mason. He was an Independence Fireman for over 30 years, and served as Assistant Chief and Acting Chief until his retirement in 1994. Lester is survived by his wife of 41 years, Frankie Merrell; daughter, Laura Dee Goens and husband Christopher; son, Troy Lee Merrell; grandchildren, Tana Michelle, Sarah Nicole, and Brianna Rose Goens, all of Independence, MO; sisters, Margaret Christine Stacy, Inice Braun both of Waynesville, MO, and Lorene Elizabeth Cheek of Cochran, GA; brothers, John Henry Merrell of Independence, MO, Albert James Merrell of Raymore, MO, William Dale Merrell of Temple, TX, and Arthur Alvin Merrell of Melburne, FL; several nieces and nephews.
