Dorothy Metzger

Dorothy Mae Metzger, 92, of Independence, MO passed away Thursday, August 7, 2008 at Wilshire at Lakewood. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 11, 2008 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Sunday, August 10, 2008 at Carson-Speaks Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Dorothy was born September 25, 1915 in Forest Green, MO to Edward Joseph and Mary Ann (Haffcke) Keeting. She graduated from Salisbury High School in 1933. In February of 1934, Dorothy was united in marriage to Sylvester Joseph Metzger. Mrs. Metzger was a member of Nativity of Mary Catholic Church. She was the head cook at Clifford Nowlin Junior High School, retiring in 1984. Dorothy is survived by her sons James Metzger and wife Pat, Donald Metzger and wife Linda; daughter Linda Barker and husband Keith; grandchildren Rick, Susan, Ron, Patti, Don, Kris, Mike, Jason and Travis; and by 13 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Metzger was preceded in death by her husband Sylvester in 1967. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
