Jean Piper Meyer, 88, Kansas City, MO, formerly of Independence, MO, passed away Feb. 2, 2012. A family only graveside service was held Feb. 6th. The family requests contributions to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., Kansas City Chapter, 3846 W. 75th St. Prairie Village, KS 66208.
Jean was born April 11, 1923 in Windsor, MO and graduated from Windsor High School. She and her husband, Reuben W. Meyer, resided in Independence for over fifty years. She was devoted to her work as Office Manager for Independence doctor Ervin H. Dorsch and for the Radiology Dept. at the former Independence Sanitarium for many years. She was a member of the Independence Junior League, IK Chapter of P.E.O. and Independence Young Matrons.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband and her son John Piper Meyer. She is survived by daughters Andrea Meyer Martin, Prairie Village, KS; Jean Ann Meyer Hansen, and husband Rick, Odessa, MO; Melissa Meyer Reiff and husband Ron, Dallas, TX; sister Roberta Piper Christen, Lee’s Summit, MO; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Jean’s family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff at Seasons Care Center of Kansas City, MO and to Crossroads Hospice for their kindness and compassionate care.
