Michael Reed Bain was born on March 1, 1952, in Kansas City, Missouri, and passed away on October 29, 2026, in his hometown of Kansas City.

Shortly after graduating from Northeast High School, Michael proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He later graduated from St. Louis University in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Michael was known for his ornery personality and his love of giving people a hard time. He had a way of keeping people on their toes and bringing laughter to those around him.

In his free time, Michael enjoyed hunting, playing video games, watching and attending NASCAR races, and cheering on his beloved Kansas City Chiefs.

Michael’s passing is preceded by his parents, Gynne and Kathleen Bain. He is survived by his children, Joshua Dunham, Jeannie Bain, and Jeffrey Bain; his siblings, Marvin Urban (Sharon), Larry Bain, Leonard Bain, Kenneth Bain (Sue), and Alicia Sipes (Charlie); as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Michael’s memory to DAV (Disabled American Veterans).

TENTATIVE: A funeral service will be held for Michael on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at Carson-Speaks Chapel (1501 W Lexington Ave, Independence, MO) at 10 am followed by a graveside service with military honors at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
