Michael David LeFever, affectionately known as Mike, passed away on June 10, 2026, in Independence, Missouri, just three days shy of his 67th birthday. Born on June 13, 1959, in Kansas City, Missouri, Mike was a man whose life was defined by creativity, a sharp intellect, and a profound generosity of spirit.

Mike attended Newark High School in Newark, California, laying the foundation for a lifetime dedicated to craftsmanship and knowledge. Professionally, he worked as a foreman in carpentry, a role that was a natural fit for his creativity and meticulous nature. Mike was incredibly intelligent and exceedingly generous with his knowledge. He had a lifelong thirst for learning and took great pleasure in teaching and mentoring others, fostering new skills and nurturing talents wherever he could. Those who knew him admired his ability to plan for the worst while hoping for the best, a philosophy that underscored both his personal and professional life.

Mike found immense joy in listening to live music, with a particular passion for blues music. Many cherished evenings were spent alongside his significant other, Lori, at various venues, immersed in the soulful sounds that so deeply resonated with him. His love for music was not only a source of entertainment but a vital thread in the tapestry of his life. Mike's proudest accomplishment was his son, Michael. Their close bond was a testament to his devotion as a father. He treasured their relationship deeply and celebrated his son’s musical achievements as a saxophonist with immense pride.

Mike’s home was always filled with animals and the joy they bring; African grey parrots, goats, dogs, emus, and lizards all sharing their lives together—a reflection of Mike’s genuine love for every creature. After moving to Kansas City, he continued that care by adopting several porch cats in addition to his dogs, always making space for animals who needed him. In the last year of his life, Mike often returned to his simple but meaningful motto: “we get to.” Whether it was an everyday chore or a small inconvenience, he believed in reframing it as a privilege—like cleaning up after a dog not as a burden, but something you “get to” do because they’re there with you.

Mike’s passing is preceded by his mother, Donna Daly, and his brother, Chad LeFever. His legacy lives on through his son, Michael LeFever; his significant other, Lori Parker; his brother, Tony Santos; his nieces, Donna LeFever, Sarah LeFever, and Stephanie LeFever; his grandniece, Veronica Unity; his uncles, Dean Harding, Dale Rothwell, and Gerald Daly; his aunt, Therese Rhodes; his cousins, Gerry Jr., Sarah Boniface, and Sam Daly, as well as many friends and extended family members.
