Michael Dewayne "Mike" Vickrey, born on January 11, 1969, in Kansas City, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on February 25, 2026, in Durant, Oklahoma. Mike was known for his hard work, kindness, and ability to bring joy to those around him.
Throughout his life, Mike dedicated himself to his career, primarily as a heavy machine operator, and most recently, he embraced the open road as an over-the-road truck driver.
Mike was known for his warm and jovial personality. He had a fun sense of humor that brightly lit up any room he entered. Those who knew him would describe him as kind, witty, and the type of person who would give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need. This generous spirit extended into his community involvement, where he enjoyed playing the role of Santa Claus to raise money for children’s charity drives, earning him the endearing title of "Grandpa Santa."
In addition to his dedication to his work and charity, Mike had a zest for life that drew people to him. He was known as a ladies' man and found great pleasure in the company of his friends, particularly during the camaraderie shared in his motorcycle clubs, the Misfits and the Rebels. These moments brought him joy and created lasting memories filled with laughter and friendship.
Mike is survived by his sister, Denise Vickrey; nephew, David (C.J.) Stager; nieces, Brandy Alasmar (Sam), Chasity Walker (Benny) and Kelli Bales (Andy); his furry companion, Sasha; numerous great nieces and nephew and the many brothers and sisters of his bike club.
He is preceded in death by his parents, J.L. and Anna (Cox) Vickrey.
Mike's will be celebrated at Speaks Suburban Chapel located at 18020 East 39th St S, Independence, Missouri, 64055. Visitation will take place on March 6, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by a funeral service on March 7, 2026, at 2:00 PM. Mike will then be laid to rest at Antioch Cemetery at 21225 Scott Rd, Holt, Missouri, 64048.
