Carl R. Milby, 98, Fair Grove, MO formerly of Independence, MO passed away Monday, June 13, 2011 in Springfield, MO.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, June 17, 2011 at Carson-Speaks Chapel; 1501 W. Lexington Ave. Independence, MO. Burial to follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. John’s Hospice.
Carl was born November 15, 1912 in Kansas City, MO the son of John Robert and Flora DeMoss Milby. He retired from Motorola Company in the mid 80’s as a tool design engineer. Carl loved music and played the drums in various honky tonk bands and conducted a 48 piece orchestra of fellow Motorola co-workers.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cleal in 1999; two grandsons, Curt and Craig Milby; two sisters; one brother and his parents. Survivors include his son, Carlton L. Milby and his wife Leslie; daughter, Carmen M. Martin and her husband Richard; grandchildren, Carla Bufton, Cheryl Martin, Crystal Leopold, and Cameron Martin; 15 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
