Irma Maxine Miles, 89, of Independence, MO, passed away, Sunday, November 16, 2008 at North Kansas City Hospital. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 20, 2008 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at the chapel. Donations may be made to City Union Mission or to NAMI. Irma was born October 28, 1919 in Buffalo, Missouri to Ralph Edward and Myrtle B. (Hendrickson) Crosby. She had worked as a clerk for JC Penney’s from 1958-70. She enjoyed fishing, embroidery, quilting, gardening, canning and flowers. Irma had also worked at the Senior Citizens Craft Store and was an election judge. She was married to Roy E. Miles on May 21, 1938; he preceded her in death on March 8, 1982. Survivors include; 2 sons, Larry E. Miles and Roger W. Miles both of Independence, MO; 3 daughters, Norma S. Dumas and husband Larry, Sharon K. Hoskins and husband Loren and Carol A. Garrett and husband Kenny all of Independence, MO; 12 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 3 grandchildren, Carri Hayward in 1975, Tyler Miles in 1997, and Michelle Garrett in 2003 and a great grandchild, Myles Hayward in 1998.
