Betty Miller, 88, of Independence, MO passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at Carmel Hills Living Center. A visitation will be from 6-7:30 PM Friday, July 25 at Carson-Speaks Chapel. Services will be at 1:00 PM Saturday at the Chapel with a 3:00 PM graveside service at Waverly Cemetery, Waverly, MO.
Betty was born October 8, 1919 in Waverly, MO to John and Cora (Willis) Willard, one of six children. In 1940 she married Fred Miller and together they lived on a farm near Carrollton, MO for 11 years before their move to Independence in 1951. Betty has been a 55 year faithful member of the Mt. Washington Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, cooking and fishing, but most of all she loved to travel, visiting all 50 states, much of Canada, and Nova Scotia by motor home.
Betty is survived by her husband of 68 years, Fred Miller; daughter and son-in-law Beverly and Louis Colombo; son Gary Miller; granddaughter Gina Sigillito; and a host of extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Aletha Salyer, Alvena Salyer, Kenneth Willard, Alberta Thoeni, Jess Willard (her twin brother), and two infant sisters.
