Donna D. Miller (Hess)

March 23, 1924 — March 29, 2015

Donna D. Miller. 91, of Kansas City, MO went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, March 29, 2015. A visitation will be held from 1:00pm to 2:00pm on Saturday, April 11, at Oakwood Baptist Church; 7600 Lee’s Summit Rd. Kansas City, MO 64139. A celebration of life service will follow at 2:00 pm at the church. She will be laid to rest at Mt. Washington Cemetery, Independence, MO.
Donna was born March 23, 1924 in Lincoln, NE as one of four children to Charles and Evelyn (Hudson) Hess. After they relocated to Kansas, she graduated from Leavenworth High School. She was trained through Bethany Hospital’s Cadet Nurses Corp program and graduated from Baker University with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree. Donna was a registered nurse for numerous hospitals including Bethany and Wadsworth. On July 9, 1948 she married her beloved Clarence J. Miller and together they raised two daughters. Among other various ministries, she was also a Sunday School Teacher for over 50 years. Donna and her husband were long time members of Oakwood Baptist Church. Recently she obtained her dual membership at Church of the Four Corners where her grandson is the pastor. She enjoyed painting, cake decorating, doll making, vegetable gardening, and researching her family’s genealogy. Her family was always her first priority. They remember her as gracious, generous, and a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and as someone who enjoyed a good conversation. Donna is loved and will be missed.
Survivors include husband, Clarence of the home; daughter, Vicki Miller of Belton, MO; daughter, Debbie Kackley and husband David of Blue Springs, MO; grandchildren, Jennie Kackley-Doran, Chris Kackley, Craig Kackley and wife Laura; great grandchildren, Ashtyn, Liam, Hughie, Olive, and Brynlen; and “little” sister, Doris Hansen of Overland Park, KS; many nieces and nephews; and Sally Powers (a daughter in her heart). She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Vern and Wayne Hess. The family encourages contributions to Oakwood Baptist Church; 7600 Lee’s Summit Rd. Kansas City, MO 64139.
