Duane Otto Miller, 68, of Independence, MO went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at the Sycamore Hills Baptist Church. Burial will be in Buckner Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Monday evening at the church. Donations may be made to the Sycamore Hills Baptist Church Building Fund 15200 E. 39th Street South Independence, MO 64055. Duane was born July 28, 1939 in Kansas City, MO but grew up in Levasy, MO. He graduated from Fort Osage High School in 1957 and graduated with a Masters Degree in engineering from MU in 1965. He worked for Butler Manufacturing from 1967 until his retirement in 1999. Duane was a member and Deacon of Sycamore Hills Baptist Church. He loved to farm, read, play golf and was a civil war buff. He was also a loving, caring and giving husband, dad, papa and friend. He was a true Republican. He will be greatly missed. Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Verbie Miller, and a daughter, Amy Miller Briggs of Bolivar, MO. He is survived by: his loving wife of 45 years, Vicki of the home; a son, Christopher Miller of Burbank, CA; his mother- and father-in-law, Norma and Bill Owen of Princeton, MO; a brother Keith Miller of Inman, KS; 2 nieces, 1 nephew, a great niece; a son-in-law, Dean Briggs of Ft. Gibson, OK and 8 grandchildren, Hanson, Evan, Gatlin and Gage Briggs and Brandon, Alexa, Chandler and Jacob Ramos.
