Emily Jane Miller, 89, Independence, MO passed away Saturday, August 23, 2014.
Emily was born December 27, 1924 the daughter of Burney B. and Edith (Wallace) Herndon of Wasola, MO. After graduating from Ava High School she attended SMSU. She married Freeman Miller in 1945. They resided in Wasola, Independence and Waynesville, MO returning to Independence in 2001. Emily was a member of the Susquehanna Baptist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Red Hatters. She enjoyed traveling, playing bridge and dominoes with family and friends.
Emily was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Emily Yvonne Terry; and her parents.
Survivors include her sons, Thomas Miller (Patricia), Burney Miller (Nancy); grandchildren, Josh, Danielle, Adrianne, Jeff and Cory; seven great grandchildren; son-in-law, Bobby J. Terry; and brother-in-law, Robert A. Miller.
Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday, August 29, 2014 at Oak Grove Cemetery, Wasola, MO.
